In reference to a 1988 interview in France Culture with Roland Barthes __ questioning the relationship / separation between writer and reader. __ (The interview coincides with the publication of ‘the theory of writing’ by Barthes.). The word ‘readers’ is used here as a focus of residence towards writing processes, as readings of the direct environment.
Regarding the content of projects, the jury DOES NOT ask for a project specifically designed for the residences, however, it will value the recent work developing problematiques related to rurality, ecology, local culture and communities, __ those themes being communes to stART and CAN SERRAT.
At the end of 2020, a publication will be created gathering the processes happened during the residencies in stART and in CAN SERRAT __ including writing proposals as contemporary art, trying to understand the two places from their differences and common points.
stART is a non-profit cultural association dedicated to the production, research and promotion of contemporary art and other cultural areas. More information here. Conditions here
